AvyScanner receives US Patent

Avametrix is pleased to announce we have received a US Patent for our revolutionary avalanche safety technology!

While we are still facing challenges due to COVID restrictions and chip shortages, we continue to make progress with the AvyScanner. We are also excited to be collaborating with a major European avalanche research organization to conduct our snowlab testing in the Alps. We thank the safety-minded backcountry community for your continued interest in our product development.

The world’s first pocket avalanche predictor is coming.

Every year, over 150 people are killed in avalanches.  There are dozens of fatalities in the US alone every year including several in-bounds at ski resorts. Countless more are injured or get lucky and are only partially buried. If the airlines had the same fatality rate as back country snow sports, there would be over 100,000 people killed in airliners annually.

While training, awareness, and equipment has improved in recent years, all avalanche safety products on the market today are designed to protect or rescue a victim AFTER an avalanche has occurred.
